Just Do It!

I know it's the Nike slogan but it really is true. If you just do it...ie. just get off the couch and get moving, it's amazing what you can do. I took last week off from training to heal up my first blister (really hoping to not repeat that). So when Tuesday rolled around to get back to training it was difficult. I was used to just hanging out, but it was time to Just Do It. At 7:30pm I laced up and hit the park, after thinking I had gone 3 laps, I headed home. A quick check of the pedometer, reality hit, I had only done 2 laps. Shoot! So to the treadmill I went when I got home. After a crazy cramp in my calf and a sore knee I decided a mile would be all I would do for the day.
This morning though, there was still a nagging of get up and get moving. After dropping Luke at his speech class, Mackenzie and I hit the streets around the school. Cranked out a mile and a half , downed 24 oz of water, and back in the school lobby before his 30 minute session was up. But that still left another scheduled half mile unwalked. Home we would go and though the temptation of the couch and some DVR'd television was looming, I climbed on the treadmill and walked another full mile.
I have to say, though many would probably say 3 miles is not a whole lot. I got off the couch and did it! I know the walking is done until tomorrow and I know my entire day will be better for it. My mental health and physical health are better for it.
Training tomorrow is 4 miles, with the warm weather rolling in, I'll probably split it between outside pushing 60 pounds of kid in the stroller and the treadmill.
